My name is Ruthleen Uy and I would like to be considered for the office of Treasurer of the San Diego Intellectual Property Law Association (SDIPLA).  I have been practicing patent law for about 20 years.  I was initially based in Washington, DC and I now live in San Diego.

I enjoy connecting with members of SDIPLA and attending events hosted by the association.  I would like to work with SDIPLA to continue to grow the IP network in San Diego and to make SDIPLA a go-to resource for San Diego IP attorneys.

I have served as Co-President and on the Board of the Pan Asian Lawyers of San Diego (PALSD).  During my terms, I increased membership and raised the presence of PALSD in the San Diego community.  I would like to do the same for SDIPLA.  In addition to keeping members up-to-date on developments in IP law, I would like to have more social events to help foster a sense of community for members of SDIPLA.

I have reviewed and understand the responsibilities of Treasurer as set forth in Section 46 of the bylaws of the SDIPLA.  As a former co-president of PALSD, I am familiar with the money management associated with running an organization.  I would like to take on the responsibilities associated with financial planning, budgeting, and reporting for the SDIPLA.

Through my extensive contacts in the legal field and many years of legal practice, I hope to expand the reach and impact of SDIPLA throughout the San Diego community.  I appreciate your consideration.

My name is Evan Glass and I would like to be considered for the office of Treasurer of the SDIPLA.  For the past four years, I have been an intellectual property attorney in San Diego.  Growing up and going to school in Indiana throughout my life, I moved out to San Diego to start my practice straight out of law school.  In my time in school, I knew I wanted to become an intellectual property attorney, and specifically a patent attorney, as early as my freshman year in high school.  I have come to call San Diego home.  I would love to work with the SDIPLA to help the intellectual property experts in this community share, ideas, and network with each other.  In doing so, I both hope to learn new ideas that can help my practice and provide other attorneys with new ideas in turn.

I would like to make contributions to the SDIPLA as treasurer of the organization.  As treasurer, I would like to take on the responsibilities of financial planning, budgeting, reporting, and any other responsibilities that are required to ensure the organization can have regular meetings and is appropriately financed.  I am excited about the opportunity to apply to serve the SDIPLA in this capacity.
